Are you interested in learning how dynamic teen programming can increase your museum's community impact? Join us Friday, January 23, 2026, from 12:30 PM –1:30 PM for a case study on how the Orange County Young Curators (OCYC) program inspires new approaches to youth engagement, equity, and shared authority in museum spaces.
Launched in fall 2024, OCYC is a ten-month, paid, intensive program that invites high school juniors and seniors to immerse themselves in curatorial practice. The program culminates in students organizing a public exhibition drawn from the museum’s collection. This case study will highlight successful collaboration models between education and curatorial teams and offer strategies for designing teen-driven programs that connect contemporary art, permanent collections, and interpretive practice.
Join Billie Rae Vinson (Director of Learning and Engagement), Nate Bench (Manager of Gallery Learning), and Delaina Engberg (Coordinator of Youth and Family Programs) of the UC Irvine Langson Museum for this engaging conversation! OCYC will be featured at CAM’s 2026 Annual Conference and was recently highlighted in the New York Times.
